Legal fees in Ukraine for an electricity market participant depend on the task, the deadlines and the volume of documents. Therefore, we do not quote an “average price” at random. Instead, after a short call we propose a specific amount and fix it in a written offer before any work starts.
What drives legal fees in Ukraine
- Practice area. A court dispute, a NEURC inspection, AMCU clearance or a tax appeal each need different resources.
- Complexity. The number of parties, the volume of documents and whether there is case law on the point.
- Timing. Urgent work at weekends or days before a deadline needs a larger team.
- Jurisdictions. Foreign parties, international arbitration or translations add to the workload.
Engagement formats
We offer three clear formats. As a result, you can pick the one that fits your task and budget.
One-off consultation
Best when you need a quick answer to a specific question or a second opinion on a document. The lawyer reviews the situation, gives recommendations and, on request, a written summary.
Fixed-scope project
A defined task with a clear outcome. For example, an imbalance dispute, support during an inspection, an energy asset deal or a licence. You get a fixed budget or agreed stages, a work plan and a responsible lawyer.
Monthly retainer
Suits companies with recurring work: contracts, corporate procedures and correspondence with the Regulator. We agree the hours in advance and send a monthly report on work done. In addition, urgent requests from retainer clients take priority.
Why we quote legal fees in Ukraine upfront
Predictability matters to a CFO. That is why we never work on a “we will count it at the end” basis. First, you see the scope, the stages and the price of each stage. Then, if the situation changes, we explain why and offer a revised estimate.
In addition, the offer names the lawyers on the matter and what you receive at each stage. For example, in a tax dispute that may be objections to the audit report, an administrative appeal and a lawsuit. So you pay for clear steps, not abstract hours.
What our fees do not include
Court fees, notary services, translations and state duties are paid separately. Court fees are set by the Law of Ukraine “On Court Fees”. However, we tell you about such costs in advance, so they never come as a surprise.
How to fix your budget
First, describe the task and send the key documents. Next, the lawyer estimates the workload and proposes a fixed or staged fee. If the scope changes, we agree it with you first. In other words, extra work never appears on an invoice without your consent.
How to save without losing quality
- get in touch well before deadlines, not on the last day;
- send documents in order, with a short timeline;
- for recurring work, choose a monthly retainer over one-off requests;
- agree priorities with your lawyer, so the budget is not spent on minor issues.
